Water Treatment Sludge

Water treatment waste or ‘clean water sludge’ is the byproduct of drinking water treatment processes. The sludge consists of soil, sediment and other impurities filtered out during purification. The sludge can then be used on agricultural land as a soil conditioner to provide nutrients and improve soil structure.

Applications of water treatment waste to land are achieved under a deployment structure which is sent to the Environment Agency for approval. This deployment paperwork is completed by ACS’s sister company, Farm Image, who have an environmental compliance team to ensure regulations are adhered to.
